Middlesex School Emphasizes Importance of Writing

A university student majoring in physics, Matt Kafker maintains an interest in other areas of study such as computer science, math, and literature. Recognized as a National Merit Commended Student, Matt Kafker also received the Andrew M. Dawson Physics Prize and the Rene N. Bourquin French Prize while completing his secondary education at Middlesex School.

Located in Concord, Massachusetts, Middlesex School seeks to provide its students with a broad education. The school encourages classroom discussion and academic success in a diverse range of areas, from science to the arts. Middlesex also assists its students in developing superior writing skills through its Sophomore Writing Workshop.

After receiving an introduction to skills ranging from correct punctuation to abstraction and argument as freshmen, Middlesex students participate in the Sophomore Writing Workshop. Sophomores meet for a weekly seminar with assignments and interactive sessions that help them develop their capacity for exposition. The students also receive one-on-one feedback. As the students progress, Middlesex continues to support and enhance their writing skills.
